Collaboration and Support


You will collaborate as a member of an anesthesia care team and pursue a successful shared mission and vision, which requires teamwork, professionalism, mutual respect, and continual communication. You can serve on interdisciplinary committees and lead projects designed to improve quality. Our team works closely with simulation labs to instruct and train student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs).

Academic Practice at UAB Hospital campuses


As a leading academic medical center, UAB Hospital campuses offer you the opportunity to challenge your skills across a full range of clinical specialties and experience a wide variety of cases, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. From cancer and transplantation to trauma and same-day surgery – and from diagnostic testing to complex interventional cardiac, radiologic, and GI procedures – our CRNAs work as a part of interdisciplinary care teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

  • Work/life balance: shifts of 8, 10, and 12 hours, with minimal on-call time, plus a self-scheduling app
     
  • Tuition assistance & loan forgiveness: 100% tuition assistance at UAB (including spouses), and dependents receive 50% assistance. Plus, we are a qualifying employer under the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
     
  • Continuing education: weekly departmental CEUs; plus reimbursement, travel stipends, and professional leave for conferences and other learning opportunities
     
  • Advanced Practice Provider Executive Council: a formal structure to advocate for and support you while discussing issues, identifying goals, and expanding our combined knowledge and experience

A sign-on bonus up to $45,000 may be available for new hires practicing at UAB Hospital, UAB Hospital-Highlands, or UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye. Additional annual financial incentives up to $18,000 may be available.

 Travel Alternative Program at UAB Hospital

We are thrilled to announce a multispecialty travel alternative program (TAP), which offers a unique opportunity for experienced CRNAs looking for a temporary contract position in Birmingham, Ala. This position is at the main UAB Hospital – our leading academic medical center, the only ACS-Level I adult trauma center in Alabama, and the No. 1 hospital in Alabama as ranked by U.S. News & World Report.

Contract details:
  • Pay rate is $220 per hour
  • Must be able to work assigned three 12-hour day shifts each week throughout the 12-week contract
  • Holiday and weekend assignments required
  • Option to renew contract for an additional 8-12 weeks

Experience:
Candidates must have at least one year of recent experience.

Community Practice at UAB St. Vincent's hospitals


Our UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham and UAB St. Vincent’s East locations are busy community hospitals that use the cutting-edge, evidence-based approach to medicine found in an academic environment. Cases at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham and adjoining surgery centers feature numerous surgical specialties, including a busy orthopaedics and sports medicine practice, obstetrics, cardiac, neuro, vascular, and general surgery, among many others. UAB St. Vincent’s East is an acute care hospital that offers many surgical specialties, including orthopaedics, cardiac, GI, urologic, and a variety of ambulatory diagnostic services.
