Areas of Practice

Our areas of practice consist of extensive inpatient practices, outpatient care, informatics, and regulatory affairs. From our ambulatory setting where you care for patients once they are discharged to our acute care setting where you prepare lifesaving drugs during a code, no matter where you practice, you’ll work with advanced new medicines in state-of-the-art facilities, with all the support you need.

Pharmacy Technicians


Our pharmacy technicians are essential team members in every setting and assist the pharmacists in providing safe, timely, and compassionate patient care. Each of us takes personal responsibility for identifying, resolving, and preventing drug-related problems in the patients we serve.

Pharmacy Residency Programs

UAB Medicine offers two post-graduate year-one (PGY1) pharmacy residency programs accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Also, we have a variety of specialized training opportunities in our post-graduate year-two (PGY2) programs at UAB Hospital.
