The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at UAB Hospital is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). It is a one-year program designed to provide extensive experience in a variety of critical care units and build upon skills developed as a clinical pharmacist during a post-graduate year 1 (PGY1) residency. Its focus is the development of the skills and confidence necessary to independently provide advanced pharmacotherapy management to patients in critical care settings. In addition to qualifying the resident for clinical pharmacy specialist positions in critical care or faculty areas, the successful completion of the program will also prepare the graduate to attain board certification in critical care pharmacy (BCCCP).
The PGY2 Critical Care Residency Program at UAB Hospital includes a combination of required learning experiences (rotations) and elective learning experiences tailored to the residents’ interest areas.
Orientation provides a general overview of the departmental organization, support units, and resident responsibilities. Benefits include health and accident insurance, holiday time off, and support to attend residency related professional conference(s).
